DW, yaay!

Pay heed, Dynasty Warriors addicts. Watch your favorite Dynasty Warrior come to life in this film:

Red Cliff
Directed by John Woo (2008, Part One; 2009, Part Two)

The battle at the Red Cliff is one of the more important battles from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms (this would be around stage 7-8 in DW5 if you're playing one of the first gen Warriors). Tony Leung plays the viceroy Zhou Yu, Takeshi Kaneshiro plays the bearded strategist with the gay fan Zhuge Liang (why do you cover that handsomeness with the long beard. tsk tsk), Chang Chen as Sun Quan, and Zhao Wei as Sun Shang Xiang, amongst others. Don't forget your ultimate bad guy Cao Cao.

Both parts are two-and-a-half hours, and everything done in John Woo-style--beautiful storytelling / artistic direction, mixing artsy-fartsy-ness with brilliant fighting scenes, where you can imagine getting that 1000+ kills, with a bit of romance. Its "epic-ness" is fairly comparable to LOTR. Great movie all in all :)

Oh, if you're planning to get a pirated copy, be sure to get the one with Chinese subs on top of English. The translations are more accurate than the ones with only English subs. and DO NOT EVER GET THE DUBBED ONES. IT'S JUST PLAIN WRONG.

So there, enjoy!
-----

on other news:
1. my appetite got a bit wild the past month, where I'd practically have to eat six times a day.
2. I wish I can go thrice-a-week training but mom's already about to blow her top on twice-a-week.
3. P300 Eraserheads (R.I.P. Francis M., you rocked) was totally fine. We just sat and looked at the stars during the commercial-laden intermission.
4. There's something wrong with the fresh salad at Kenny Roger's. Eat at your own risk.
5. Crashed the wrong Jollibee kiddie birthday which is supposed to be my cousin's. My brother and I went in thinking, who the heck are this people? Waitaminit, the kid's surname's Ngo, not Ong. $%#@. Let's get outta here.

~O Amor em Carnaval~

February, 9, 2009 to February 14, 2009 -- BEST WEEK OF MY LIFE, HANDS DOWN. Couldn't have celebrated Valentine's Day better than Brasilipinas 2009--

a. because capoeiristas are the coolest and most bibbo people both in and of the roda/dance floor, and the 'dings strut like no other.
b. because i couldn't believe i just got my yellow cordão during the Batizado, where Formado Soldado proceeded to flip me around like a nunchaku, good Lord. I couldn't help but emit a small scream during those few seconds.
c. and also (Fantasma: "auso") because i finally got to know my apelido. it was a laugh trip.
d. because dancing barefoot is the way to go.
e. because free flowing drinks are so free. Muhahahaha.
f.  because the aches in my body now are worth it. I'm still on a high even if i'm kinda sleepy (haha, labo noh)
g. because Brigada, Guarana, Eileen Sison of Escola de Samba, and Nyko Maca+Playground are just freakin' awesome.
h. because i felt the love from the crazy passionate people i've had the chance to share this week with. words can't express the love i feel for capoeira and the EBC family. ::sniff::

Can't wait for the next training!!!!

Come, come, come! it's gonna be super duper fun!!
P.S. it's the way to go to stave off unwanted ugh-i'm-so-single-on-Valentine's grouchery XD

Dear God,

He was beautiful. Thank You.

bridges

1. More and more each day i feel like an office drone whose work is generally borrific but necessary, and each day more and more shut out from the outside world. I'm almost always looking forward to going home the minute i get into the office, and wanting to take a vacation with my dreamboy a.k.a. Aljur Abrenika (so i happen to like younger guys. and stop that evil laugh you ^o^), out of town, out of the country.

2. On a lighter note, Brasilipinas 2008 --Feliz Natal! i've been looking forward to it for months, and sure enough--free-flowing drinks ie. Tropical Spike (tastes like Kool-aid with a kick :P), people grinding Samba on the floor, becoming a fan of Brigada, and moving to Nyko Maca's lovely, lovely voice (i do love watching her perform, plus she's really friendly)--i had so much fun with my gals i didn't get so much sleep that night. There'll another Brasilipinas event this February 2009...the batizado+performance from all of the mentioned above and more!

3. My colleagues and i watched Hairspray two weeks ago, and it's like we walked into a celebrity camp. Echo, Kuya Germs, Carmen Soo, Cherie Gil, Fanny Serrano, Aiza Seguerra amongst others. The show was enjoyable, but i have to hand it to Nyoy Volante, whose amazing performance i hadn't expected turned out to be one of the most exciting characters in the show. and Dulce, that voice!

I had to stifle the urge to sing "Good Morning, Baltimore" when i arrive at the office the next morning.

Also, i saw that guy who played Trekkie Monster back in Avenue Q, and I turned red when i remembered the episode at the elevator after his show. Dyahe!

4. I've enrolled in this EBC workshop, and my body just isn't conditioned to take this kind of beating. I always take a few days off after any kind of one-and-half-hour to two-hour workout, and a back-to-back 3-hour training just about drained my life away. I just have to keep a discipline to have a 30-minute workout everyday to gradually build some kind of endurance, but i haven't gotten around to do it yet. Maybe I will make it my New Year's Resolution!

5.  While i'm not subjecting my body to such abuse, this PC game "Fallout 3" (i think it's available in XBOX 360 and PS3 as well) i'm currently addicted to is a nice redirection of any violent tendencies, such as, blasting people' and mutants' head off their shoulders. Fantastic graphics and good gameplay, and i like the way how situations change based on your choices and behavior. i 'm generally not a fan of first-person shooters, but this is a mighty exception.

6. Last night was our Christmas Party and we, the IT department, were able to defend our Title of Best Performance. We owe it to our boys with their Sexboys and Darna routine. Everyone was just laughing their guts out. Maybe I'll post a video of that on YouTube (or IyoTube ;D).

7. Christmas shutdown on the 23rd, yahoooooo!

Aug. 31st, 2008

halibuts are falling from the sky

1. My braces will be officially coming off next month--woohoohoo, metal mouth no more! I remember talking to my officemate's niece last year and i ask her how old she is, she said seven. And i said, oh hey you're as old as my braces, see? to which i oblige her with a big metal smile. Eight years--a very looong time, especially when you see little babies growing up and then they begin having their own minds. But you are, in a way, technically stuck in your teens with your metallics (and a lot of people apparently thinks you're still in high school). so, yey, i'm graduating to retainers!

2. I recently finished this mindbending novel titled  "Kafka on the Shore" by Haruki Murakami, which is surprisingly an easy read, since the plot is kinda twisty and otherworldly.  Really amazing what these Japanese can come up with. It features the musings of the fifteen-year-old boy and a decrepit old man who can talk to cats. This book marks as one of the few literary fictions I've actually finished -- I actually pulled an all-nighter on this one. mellow, unreal, a bit sick, fascinating, is what i'd described it.

3. Coincidentally i chatted with a charming old man on a bench in Theater Mall while waiting for my friend to arrive. We kinda jumped around  politics, family history, La Salle - Ateneo rivalry, movies, economic conditions, Jessica Alba, inflation, Jessica Alba. It's cute really, a sixty-nine year old retiree who have a crush on Jessica Alba. hahaha.

4. I was really sorry I missed my sister's play. She played the lead female role, and everyone really loved her performance (this is her first play). She became the talk of the town after church service this morning and here i am, having no idea of what anyone is excited about. Sayang.

5. General admission at the Eraserheads concert wasn't so bad; we were at the far back so it wasn't so sticky with so many people mashing up the front. I even bought a picnic blanket  for us to sit on during the intermission. Or not. But I am glad Ely's okay, with him having to go to a lot emotional turmoil coupled with a heart problem, it's bound to happen. We felt sorry for this group of girls who just came in during the intermission just to hear the show's being canceled.

6. my former colleague doris and her group of girlfriends and I went on an overnight at a condo last week in Makati, so naturally we had a night out, at Greenbelt. Reminds me of the vudu episode, though we didn't actually pass out drunk in the yard. We were all sane, thank goodness. And chatted until dawn. I honestly enjoyed their company even if we were just introduced at the condo. and i lost inches off my waist like you wouldn't believe --

bought a new pair of jeans a week before and it fitted fine,
but that night those same jeans just keeps falling past the "low-rise" line.

crazy metabolism (knock knock). :P

7. Oh in case you didn't know, Jiggy's book was publicized by a Star SUPREME writer, just this Saturday's paper. Read it up! ;-)

ineloquence makes a diligent blogger

 1. And again, my brothers bought home a lean Boston Terrier we call Milo. (See how we name our dogs? Tausi, Nido, Snowbear (a candy brand)). Never stays in one place unless you chain it to a wall. Cute little pack of energy though.

I forgot to mention that a few months ago, a Blue-nape parrot fell into our backyard. So we caged it and nursed it back to health. However, the damn bird flew away while Angkong's feeding it. So we figured that Angkong's gonna be a little sad since his pet was gone, my parents bought two new blue-napes for him when we went to tagaytay that weekend. The thing is, when we got home, my uncle already bought an expensive Yellow-crested cuckatoo for Angkong. So we got three new birds in a weekend. A few days later, my mother caught another one, this time an African lovebird from her little garden.

Did I mention that our house is rapidly becoming a zoo?

2. A promotion isn't always a good thing. It brings out drama and tension in an otherwise nice working atmosphere. ::tear::

3. I have to drown myself in water so says the annual physical exam results. oh yeah, do you know the MRT health reminder tells us to drink beer?

4. There was this Michael Jackson concert playing on a bus TV and i remembered the days where I love the man back when he was in pre-rhinoplastic and delirium stage. He still got all his mouth-dropping signature moves and all those effects which just zones you out of your seat. Twice I've watched it playing and twice I've passed my stop. hahaha.

5. If there's one thing I wished for, it's to have a smooth exchange between mind and tongue.

Jul. 13th, 2008

twinkletoes

we were picking out clothes in U2 Gateway with Achi and mum today, and there's this Missy Elliot album (and songs of her genre) playing in the background.

and I suddenly had visions of people (specifically, friends closest to me-hehe) streetdancing and breakdancing in my mind. like i was imagining & creating choreography as the song played on--people flipping around, rotating to take to the centerstage, boosting -- whatever. the saleslady gave me a curious look and realized i was zoning out. my mind was snapping in and out the whole time while we were there.

...is this normal? ...could this be a, uhm, calling?

though i never forget /everyone reminds me, that i'm the worst dancer in the world. muhahaha.

Pata-pata-pata-pon!

latest bit on my side of the fence:

1. Avenue Q - Farewell Run
That play was crazy fun. It's for yuppies and fresh graduates and closet racists and Schadenfraude (read: search it in wiki) people. They didn't disappoint us with the blind "Caution: puppet nudity" tag. teehee.

Avenue Q Manila Cast. courtesy of www.thebachelorgirl.com

I didn't expect Aiza Seguerra to do a good job, but she did. My level of respect for her upped a bit now.  Carla Guevarra is certainly the best one in there - spectacular voicing  for the innocent and the slutty girl alternately. That Caucasian i recognized from the Pinoy flick "Ang Cute ng Ina Mo" with Ai-ai. And here's the thing, after the show, i didn't even notice that Joel Trinidad who portrayed Trekkie Monster and Nicky (bald guy in pink shirt) somehow got into the elevator with megan, anj, mariam, and me  -- I even sang a few notes of "there's a fine, fine line" song (i remember Pom:O) while we were in there. It's only when we got out that Megan told me who he was. greaaat. we didn't get to take a picture together!! aaagh.

2. Capoeira - Men and Machines
I walked onto the venue and saw a huge video camera perched on top of a tripod. A petite girl who wears a peachy pink racerback, along with a dark guy, is hanging around with Fantasma (that's the Profesor). Upon squinting, that girl turned out to the blinky Lia Cruz--former-Filipino-12-groupmate-UAAP-courtside-reporter-now-turned-BTV-anchorgirl. I always do see her in racerback shirts. haha. anyway, so i figured out that the class is supposed to do a demo, and its gonna be on Men & Machines show. I've never heard of it but if you see it, maybe you'll all notice me standing in the background. haha.

3. PSP
Bought shiny new PSP (with own paycheck and a little contribution from my loving bros-hehe) - check
Finished Final Fantasy Crisis Core and loved Zack - check
Finished Patapon (highly addicting; causes persistent mumbling of "Pata-pata-pata pon!") - check
Replaying Patapon - check
Currently pining for Metal Gear: Portable Ops - check

Speaking of Metal Gear, my bro re-played Sons of Liberty in anticipation of the newest release of Metal Gear: Guns of the Patriots (no, we haven't the PS3 yet), and how we remembered the over-philosophical BS towards the end.

ah, that twisty line:

Colonel:
The S3 Plan does not stand for Solid Snake Simulation. What it does stand for is Selection for Societal Sanity... The S3 is a system for controlling human will and consciousness. S3 is not you, a soldier trained in the image of Solid Snake. It is -- a method, a protocol, that created a circumstance that made you what you are.

that threw us up the first time, but we can't help but be amused now. sigh. nostalgia.

4. New Haircut
Speaking of which, if you do see me on that Men & Machines show on whatever channel it's in, you may notice my new 'do. i had it chopped last Saturday. Good riddance. i feel like a bird to be free of constant-accidental hair-pulling.

5. Speed dating
So the haircut kinda readied me on my first  "dates." my HS friend Rosanne pulled me in with her lack of a love life and it sounds better when you're not going alone. haha. generally,  i had fun; there were good ones, nice ones, bad ones, creepy ones, but the results that came out three days later was...uhm... (dot dot dot).

6. The general acceptance/irritation of my insanity
I know I have had a lot of embarrassing bouts of insanity that made me curl up and bury my head in shame. sudden blurting of um, uncouth statements, generally ridiculous trains of thoughts, irrational decisions, bursts of wild imagination, prancing around until a backdrop almost backdropped on me--I do wonder what you all think of me whenever i look back and did these things. haha. if you do remember some of it, and still like me, you are and will be my friend forever.

 4AM. Time to sleep...zzz

May. 18th, 2008

just sentences stringed together on a numbered list

1. i never had a nosebleed my entire life. even when the metal disc of a flying sipa hit me square on the nose in 1st grade...presto! no bleeding!

2. an owner-type jeep ran over my right foot when i was in second grade. (see how i progress?). the experience was kinda tingly, and of course being the crybaby that i was i obliged everyone with some bawling.

3. and i also bawled over The Bucket List. as in, ulanan ng luha at uhog.

4. i'm taking capoeira seriously now, twice a week on wednesdays and saturdays. met a lot of interesting people, although i still get tongue-tied with er, interacting with the seasoned players. it's always like this when i meet a "new" group of people and i feel i'm not sociably friendly enough. i probably would give maybe 6 more months before i can talk openly and comfortably.  like how i did with the people at the office. (yeah, you new audiences.)

5. i floated over the whale sharks with Carla in Donsol last month. Lovely experience; you all gotta give it a go sometime in your life. love it, love it, love it!

6. what i do at my job: technically feeding data to the MIS database, which basically just  makes me a glorified encoder (as i said to Ray Molina when we happend to meet at the MRT). and so to make my desk job more exciting, i regularly bugged a lot of officemates to let me help them on whatever they're doing. ooh, barcodes, a most delicious way to practice my design skills. well, the people there are great, so at least i have something to look forward to everyday :O)

7. i got into this three-day capoeira workshop headed by a certain guest Mestre, Mestre Ousado. suffice to say that he taught us a different kind of movement. his style is mostly jerky and involves a lot of trickery compared to our resident Professor Fantasma's smooth moves (insert Jet Li: ""Great BEER!" heheh, couldn't resist). it was super tiring, but still real fun. i joined their demo at Greenbelt 3 last night at kakaiba din ang feeling na pinapanood ka ng maraming tao. i feel light to the soles of my blackened feet afterward. it's just sad that i didn't get to join the capoeristas for dinner and went home alone cause my mom's getting a hissy fit. (and partly because i might be a little OP). hehe. also a bit of samba dancing (a kind of brazilian? dance mostly using hip-shaking) after the demo. kering-keri.

8. Nido is such a bugger with a lotta saliva trails.  eeyuck. otherwise he's a very obedient, sweet dog.

9. i felt i should be doing something more, like really getting that 2nd degree.

10. i just wanted to reach number 10. let's all do something together sometime. :)

an officemate tagged/asked me post this here:

If you read this journal, even if I don't speak to you often, post a memory of me.

It can be anything you want. It can be good or bad, just so long as it happened.
Then post this on your journal too!
Be surprised (or not) about what people remember about you. :)

do humor me :)

a little elegy

This elegy is long overdue.

R.I.P. Taosi. Taosi died on Chinese New Year's Eve. We buried her in our garage, beneath a sapling. Taosi, You will always be loved and remembered, even though you've never moved your lazy ass whenever we come home.

and so, after weeks of deep depression, my brother adopted a lab retriever named Nido. Great dog, gentle most of the time. Maharot nga lang kung nakita niya yung golden ng pinsan mo. He tried to hump Snowbear, and Snowbear humped him back. I never thought dogs are gay.

other than that piece of fact,  it's been a non-eventful long weekend, mostly consisting family dramas and telenovelas.

**********

in other news, i wanna go dancing... will you dance with me?

Feb. 4th, 2008

there is only ten

1. i've been in a corny mood lately these past few weeks. there's about that little period of time where you just burst into song whenever you hear a common phrase that clicks with the first lyrics that jumps into your head. it's funny to think i can go on for weeks being in a  tune-that-phrase mood. i think my officemates can attest to that. hahaha

2. so far, no luck with the opposite sex. Tigers are supposed to be lucky this year, maybe i'll hit it ;)

3. i am staying at this current company for a bit longer, since they kind of raised my salary outrageously (well, not really), but the fact is that they raised it quite early on (i'm just hitting about six months now) and in such a way that you would be an ungrateful ingrate if you walk away with the cold cash. but, believe me, the job is kinda growing on me anyway.  maybe i'll stick to it and just let my hobbies be hobbies. makes you a bit 'multifaceted' and...<<drumroll, drumroll>> 'synergistic!'

4. the airconditioner is broken, and suddenly the office becomes a volatile environment.

5. i literally choked on somebody's hair at the MRT. there's this one time where the three of us (me in the middle) pushed into an already crowded train because i can't get out so i had to get in, and so i'm a squeezed between two (big) ladies.  i had to turn my head to gasp for breath, and alas, hair! i want to fling it away from my face but my hands can't move in between butts and bags.  *cough* . just. three. more. stops to go. but who am i to complain? it's only 30 minutes of my everyday yuppie life, i can bear it.

6. i'd never guessed that i've gained some newer audiences for this blog (which is incidentally RSS'd at multiply). i guess i have to visit multiply more often now.

7. heath ledger, R.I.P. i'm gonna stay awake and watch Brokeback all the way through this time, just for you.

8. i like Ellen Page now because of Juno's character. she's really cool. whoever was behind that script and direction, kudos! i love it!

9.  the office belly is beginning to sprout now, i think it started when i began eating Cheetos Flaming Hot (finger-lickin' hot!) three nights in a row before going to bed, and it all went to the middle. so i'm gonna get some workout, at least once or twice a week. dahil ken afford na ko!

10. i'm 21 now, and i am loving it.

PS> i really miss you guys. and blogging. :)

Oct. 25th, 2007

the joys of you+tube

after being a long time away from LJ, i have a new "raket". seems that i picked up a lot from watching kim and phoebe doing what they do best. this is the video i made for my cousin's grandmother's 80th birthday party, which was last Sunday. they presented it to the party guests at EDSA Shangrila. pretty big for a first timer. salamat pala sa inspiration. so, see, take a look!

I dunno if you'd appreciate it as it's a Chinese song from Jay Chou, and voices actually singing are my cousins'. they had a recording studio to do their voice recording so it does sound authentic. bonggacious, ano? do tell me what you think! :)

on other news, i'm being a flake again. i can explain on another day :O

anyway, i miss you all. see you all soon ;D

EDIT: now that ive watched it again, it needs a few more tweaks. oh, well, they were happy with it so i guess that's fine. :D

Aug. 28th, 2007

fire ants have bitten my legs and they are now purple.

other than my food intake, what my officemates ask me frequently is,

"Kumakanta ka ba?"

Not that i have a musical sing-song voice that bespoke waves of melody and harmony, chuva-ek-ek., but because, boy, they do LOVE KARAOKE's.

I fully realized that when we went to my supervisor's house in Zambales for the long weekend. Frankly, i seem to be the only one who got a hoarse throat from singing only two or three songs. Everyone else hogged the mic from 5 pm to maybe around 11pm. and again the next day (celebrating my supervisor's kid's 2nd birthday).  The karaoke machine is one of those jukebox types that you put in a P5 coin and then select a song. We sound like one of those noisy, annoying neighbors who kept the town awake til dawn, really. To our credit, everybody did sing nicely and un-sintonado.

Five crates of Red Horse in-between swims, songs, and birthday cakes, we lounge around the beach resort (which is supposedly the set of the GMA's Marimar) which isn't bad--could be better, could be worse. As always, i've had some trouble fitting in with the crowd, mostly because i'm a little goody-two shoes, keeping some distance away from the (chain)smokers. But I'm contented listening in to their talk and gossipy-gossips, which is quite entertaining, the kind of conversation that you get from listening to  pambihirang Balahura't Balasubas and Joe d' Mangoes, only the DJ's actually sing the songs they play. :-D

The fun only gets more interesting when it all came down to who sleeps where. Let's get down to the root of the problem: we only have one room, one standard-sized bed and two mattresses. There are nine of us in there, and four of them big, strapping men. There are two couples. Supposing that each couple have to sleep together, and both couples will not share the same bed/mattress, what is the probability that a single man and a single woman has to sleep next to each other? Hint: the couples are not always heterosexual.

And the funniest goes to when those big, strapping men got to flirt with the friendly neighborhood gays.

It was a blast, despite my stomachache and the confusion that ensued thereafter.  i might post some pics soon, depending on my other officemate who promised to burn us CD copies of the trip. Hee.

Here goes to the dilemma of the year--stability or conquest?

Aug. 13th, 2007

a fashion-este's tale

achi: eiza! ano ba yan! brown stripes, tapos navy blue slacks, tapos green shoes!! paano ka ba manamit? palitan mo yan! (this would be around 6am)
me: eh pero style ko yan! random!
achi: mukha kang loka-loka! o, eto suotin mo. (hands me a pair of brown slacks)
me: oo na, oo na!
dichi: (waking up) haynako, ang ingay niyo!

It also doesn't help that a lot of the trousers hanging in our closet do not fit me well. most of the time i have to grip it with a functional belt (so i don't buy belts that are too wide or the ones that you just put on over your hips, because they do not hold my pants up at all), NOT TO MENTION that most of the pretty and functional belts out there do not have enough holes, or an extra belt loop to hold flippy-flappety belt strap end. and I can't even find a shop who can punch belt holes for me, even Mr Quickie.

I tried, i tried.

I need Carson Kressley.
=======

Office work is...okay. nothing i can't handle yet. i guess the struggle would be, "can't relate." my officemates got boyfriends, long-distance relationships, babies and husbands, "dates",  office crushes,  lover's quarrel, break-ups,  tampuhan, balikan, cooling-off's, sneaky phone calls from their partners, lakad, and so on.

me, i'm a Jughead still,  but even Jughead sometimes gets insecure with all of these stuff going on around him.

it's funny because i've got a cousin whose cousins are planning to snag boyfriends ("dapat may solid BF na ko by 17, at siguro pwede pang tatlo pa or so kapag college na ko"), and she's just entering high school? the younger one is more pragmatic/whimsical, how ever you see it, who declares not in exact terms, "basta kung mahal na mahal ko talaga, sikapin kong ipaglaban siya/yung pagmamahal ko sa kanya." and she's in elementary!

i could never stomach that kind of thoughts when i was their age. now, maybe, 10-15%? wishful thinking at daydreams lang yan. Not inside an actual relationship, etc, etc.

i would imagine this section might trigger a Joe d' Mango episode. or not. Brando's Sexytime siguro. XP
=======

well, here's to another work day! I hope my parents would OK me to the Zambales trip with the officemates. ciao!

Jul. 31st, 2007

we be the market called "yuppies." yik.

from the time of my last post, i learned that:

1. a P100 MRT ticket gives you a bonus last ride, even if it's just P1 remaining for a P16 ride.
2. my feet smells starting day one.
3. my officemates asked me the question, "san na pupunta yung kinakain mo?!"  countless times, because,
4. i eat like a carpenter, so says my officemate Ju. i always came up with different answers to that question everytime.
5. i'd get crazy from hunger around 9:30 to ten even if I ate a nice and warm siopao two hours earlier.
6. that i have to inquire my balance the minute i receive my payslip.
7. i've already developed some sort of tolerance to coffee from the time i started drinking regularly the past three weeks. because i started getting sleepy around 9am. (our call time is 7:50am)
8. you can mellow down some aggressive women fighting to get into the MRT if you'd just say "dahan-dahan lang ho, baka (insert potential situation here) ho kayo." and it kinda goes. but boy, does MRT bring out the aggressiveness in us delicate and demure women.
9. Mojo Jojo is a fat and ugly gay person,
10. who said Wentworth Miller is gay?! No %$#@ way!
11. the day came where i avoid using computers at home if i can because i've been staring at one all day long (and there's no internet, only rows and rows of numbered and lettered codes). that's why this post came only now (since i've been admonished by

[info]lex_kun ).
12. I have to use some make-up so i won't  look like a witch flattened by some pavement roller.
13. and be a bit more fashionable, even though the female-male population is 15 to 1, where the pretty women-pretty men ratio is up to 15,000 to 1. the number of employees is roughly 80 or more.  go on, do the math. i can only shake my head.
14. i'm starting to get sick of Umbrella by Rihanna and Bartender by someone feat Akon songs which is being repeatedly played on one of my officemate's iPod and on the radio every single day. Fergie is okay, though.
15. my braces may be still in for a long, long time.

as of this writing, a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious yuppy (ptooie!) like me is still entirely naive.

first day high?

so the first day wasn't that bad. MRT is sure an experience during rush hour. at least i do get to work half the time it takes to ride a car. haha. i even met tiffany (ong) at the station and she got in the first train that came and i eventually followed three trains later. i was actually afraid those people who were teetering on the edge might get their nose squinched by the automatic doors.  well, i can get used to it.  i happen to notice everyone in the train are at least freshly showered for the day. imagine MRT rush hour at night.

my officemates aizza, abi and juju were really fun girls. I didn't have a desk yet so i made singit between juju and aizza's desk. juju was kind enough to show me the stuff she was working with, which i think would be my future responsibility. those database stuff did make me a bit dizzy.

i met kimi out in the lobby since she's being interviewed by our company during lunchtime. comtech, all the way!

come uwian time, i was hesitating to be the first one to leave because no one is actually leaving yet. but Achi and her temper are already waiting outside. sigh.

i was kinda reticent in the office today because i'm trying to both observe and absorb the culture. maybe i did looked a little restless looking around again and again as soon as i finished my work. the office do resemble a landscape of  "organized clutter" between rows of desks and dividers and cubicle and paperwork and files here and there. maybe the lack of color made me a little unsure about the place, but i think the people there are fun, friendly professionals, at least in my department.

anyhow, here's to future hopes and careers!

speaking of careers, Megan Musni officially joined  the Palmolive Circle of Ten besting out two other candidates, as of yesterday. woohoo! Never once thought that she'd be such a good singer, but well, well well! kumusta naman! Congrats!!

yupdates :O

Whee! i'm starting work tomorrow as a Business Process Specialist! Whatever that means!
---

So i had my medical done yesterday and went on to a semi-reunion with R2, and so the 11:30am  meeting time stretched to 1pm. i was about to faint from hunger and so grabbed some nuggets at Wham.  the food at green tomato was not bad, but i did have a hard time eating those pesky penne pasta with a fork.

i took the MRT to trinoma later, and hanged out at national while waiting for mariam and phoebe. i did miss them so! We went to watch Transformers (this is my second screening) and can't not feel mesmerized by the stunning effects. 38 hours rendering time per frame yan, friends!

anyhow,i scored a good book by paulo cuelho at national, The Devil and Miss Prym. i finished it this morning. and may i say that i had to pause and catch my breath as i was reaching the climax. grabe. the story is actually very simple, but the inner conflict of the main characters and the people was what it made it a complex read. i was crying out in my head, no! they're actually gonna do it! %#%$!

it's so real. too real. if i were the girl in the story, 'm not sure if i can make the same stand in the story as her.

God, I love books like these. Thank God for Paulo Cuelho.

right now, i'm eyeing the Philip Pullman series. it's a young adult fiction about alternate universe beyond the real world. i accidentally bought book II of the series, The Subtle Knife. Very terrific, fascinating read. that's why now im hunting down book I, The Golden Compass. Really, these should be the books i'm supposed to be reading when i was growing up, not my Achi's extended collections of trashy novels, except for a few treasures by Judith Mcnaught.

ah well, i'm coming to my own money now, so i can buy more! weeheehee!

though Harry Potter can wait. he's still expensive right now. All my excitement for Harry Potter died when I found out that I read the fake version of Order of the Phoenix, which I think is a more happy read than the real one. hahaha. shallowness XD.

The Glorification of Gamers

I found this book in goodwill called The Kids are Alright: How the Gaming Generation is Changing the Workplace." It's the first book (game magazine articles not included) I've read that actually hails Gamers (with capital G), get this, in the workplace (duh, from the title).

They claim that not only are these video games not fry our brains and social skills, but they insist that Gamers are winners in the workplace--better team players, persistence in greater achievements etc., etc. so kumusta naman!

here's the gist of it: from www.gotgamebook.com

1. Gamers are better at handling risk and uncertainty, and believe taking measured risks is the best way to get ahead.
2. Gamers are more creative and have better problem solving habits.
3. Gamers are more sociable and have a greater need for human relationships.
4. Gamers think of themselves as experts and want to tackle problems head-on.
5. Gamers aren’t discouraged by failure and believe each setback is just a chance to try again.
6. Gamers are more flexible about change
7. Gamers are better at seeing problems in a deeper perspective.
8. Gamers are great at learning in informal ways.
9. Gamers are more globally oriented and outward-looking.
10. Gamers are more confident and have a more positive outlook on life.

I've not the chance to finish the whole thing on the spot, but i've managed to read one of "our" weaknesses: our problem with bosses, because technically "the objective is to kill the boss." Without the psychologicalisms, that's kindaaa farfetched, but then the books's essentially drawn from behavioral research anyway. So maybe, they have more of a legitimate reason for claiming so.

And the irony: i just read about some news about videogame addiction on Yahoo!News the other day and how some children were undergoing drastic rehab, especially those who are playing WoW. I guess i'll just stick to Rise of Nations, Command&Conquer, and Elder Scrolls IV, for now.

Well, there's always the good and the bad. It's funny because i kept video gaming a secret from the hiring public, but I think i can wear the Gamer label proud now. hahaha.
